Here is my dilema –

I have a new Lacie 16tb drive that I need to trasfers files to.

My second dirve has the Final Cut Events and Final Cut Projects folders like they are suppose to.

The third drive has the ACTUAL Pro Res Files media. I had to do this for storage reasons.

So when I go to transfer the Final Cut Events folder and the Final Cut Project folders to the new drive, it is only showing the shortcuts to the PRORES files for the third drive.

Now I understand that it makes sense, because my ProRes files are on the third drive.

But I thought if you go to your project library in FCP-X and left click to duplicate files and chosse the third option – Duplicate + Used Clips - that it would rebuild this from both drives. But it does not. It will just rebuild the Final Cut Events and Final Cut Projects – with the - SHORTCUT - to the third drive with the ProRes Files used..

Is there anyway around this?

Any help would be appreciated.

After you do the duplicate use the Organize Event function to copy the files into the event. This will copy the original media. If that's the ProRes files they will be copied. If the ProRes files were optimized files, you'll need to optimize again.

Thank you Tom.

I have made the duplicate copy.

So now where do I go for the organized Event Function.

How do I do this literally.

Select the event in the library in the application and go to File>Organize Event Files

Tom you're a Rock n' Roll star. Did you know that?!?!

Either way you saved me a headache! Even support service at Apple for FCP-X wasn't sure how to do this.

All is working well. I owe you a pizza!

Thanks again Tom!
