I have footage shot at 50fps that I would like to slow down with Twixtor. What I want to know is if I add this footage to my time line in Final Cut Pro X, will the program have already discarded half the frames before I even add Twixtor?
Final Cut Pro X 10.0.8
Thanks!

Apply Conform Speed to the clip on the Timeline and FCPX will always play every single frame of your original clip.
If this 50p clip is on a 50 fps timeline it will play at normal speed and you can use Twixtor to slow it down. If it is on a 25 fps timeline it will play at a perfect 50% slow motion without needing to do anything else. If you want to further slow it down you can then apply Twixtor to it.
