CPU HIGH ON MAC was created by Nicola Zena
Hello there
Can anyone help me please?
I am running Final Cut Pro X on a new 27" IMAC and it has worked perfectly for months - now all of a sudden when I try to render a clip after adding effects or any changes, it takes forever, even on a short clip (15 secs)
In activity log it is using 200% of the CPU - this is high and I don't know how to fix the problem or what to check.
There is still 30% of memory free on the hard drive.
Any advice would be gratefully received.

Hi Nicola,
Start with these:
- Make sure Background Rendering is turned OFF.
- Close any applications you don't need.
- Make sure you absolutely have NO backup processes (such as Time Machine) running while working with FCPX
- Open the FCPX Background Tasks window to see if you have no background processes running
