NEWBIE ALERT!! Help with fade in....!! was created by ghunt1985
Hi guys, sorry about this but I could use some help and couldn't find any online videos for the answer I'm looking for.
I'm completely milking my way through editing a video and have arrived my first (of many, I'm sure) hurdle!
I want my video to start completely black while the audio plays and text will display my website etc etc
The only tutorials I can find even close to this are the fade-in videos. The problem with this is that it gradually fades-in from the start whereas I only want the video to start at around 9 seconds!
Anyone able to help me out there?
Thanks

Double click the audio portion to expand it. Then drag the beginning of the video to the right to trim it. Add a cross dissolve at the head of the video to fade it in.

Or put a black custom generator over the top of your footage, place/expand to where needed.

Bear in mind that "Expanding Video/Audio" and "Expand Audio Components" doesn't allow the audio to start before the video of the clip, if the clip is at the head of the Timeline (nothing in front of it). That said...
IF you want the Title clip to overlap with the opening video clip; it needs to remain a Connected Clip. In this case I'd recommend that you Insert a Gap Clip with Option-W, at the very head of the Timeline, in the Primary Storyline, and then do EXACTLY what Toms says.
IF you don't need the Title clip to overlap with the opening video clip; put the Title clip inside of the Primary Timeline, before your opening video clip. Then what Tom says will work perfectly with ease.

Good work chaps! Managed to sort it very easily due to your sound advice. I just needed to know a few of the basics. I didn't know you could drag the videos to position them where you want them to start/end etc etc. I've now finished 3 piano tutorial videos. Thanks again.
Oh and if anyone can advise me on a way I can compress the videos down so it's youtube playable without having to wait about 5 hours or having to buy a ridiculously expensive program, that'd be swell
