Hi Everyone,
I would be grateful if you could help me. I filmed an event and for some reason my Sony HVR HD1000 Camera dropped a few frames during the event. I had filmed it with two cameras, so I do have audio of the whole event. I am fairly new to FCPX, and have watched a number of online tutorials, although no one shows how to swop audio from one camera to the other during multi cam. I would be really grateful if anyone could let me know how to swop audio sources (only for a few seconds) during multicam editing.

At the top of the angle viewer are switches that let you cut video and audio together, just video, or just audio. You can change these at any point in the edit. When you select audio only you can cut to whatever cameta's audio you want for as few frames as you want. You can also blade the multicam clip and then right-click in the cut section and select whatever video or audio you want.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the help. I know about the switches in the angle viewer. For the most part, I want to keep my Sony camera as the primary audio source. How do you set a camera as the primary audio source. I seem to remember that I selected it in the time line. If I then want to change the primary audio source, do I need to use the blade tool to change it - is that what you mean. Thanks again!

You don't have to use the blade tool. It is just one option. Select video and audio in the angle viewer. Switch to the Sony angle. Then change to cutting video only. Wherever you need to cut to the other cameta's audio change to an audio only edit and cut to the other camera. You can go through the multicam clip in the timeline cutting just for audio and then go back and cut just for picture.

Fab, thank you, thank you, thank you Tom!!! My middle daughter just asked me - 'Do you have to pay for the advice that he gives?', and I replied 'No you don't' - she then said 'He's a kind man isn't he!' 'He is' I replied!
I appreciate your time, I have just done what you have said. I didn't realise that you can switch the audio first and then go back and do the camera. Brilliant, my thanks again (and my daughter, Anna's!)
