Sharing Compound Clips

Background - two editors working on different projects from the same event. Each editor has created compound clips that have additional elements like moves etc on them, so splitting the compound clips when copying the project folders to a common archive project/event set is not an option.

So, we've ended up with two versions of the same event, down to compound clip differences ONLY.

How best to merge these?

I had thought of creating a compound transfer event, then moving the compound clip in to that event, copying it to the other computer then moving it in to the other event copy, but it's trying to duplicate media (several GB) as well. Is there any way to do this easily / quickly?

In case of confusion the Event was duplicated - two editors created two projects so we now have:

Event Copy 1 (with compound clips for project 1)
--- Project 1

Event Copy 2 (with compound clips for project 2)
--- Project 2

What I want is:

Event Archive including compound clips for both project 1 & 2
--- Project 1
--- Project 2

As both Events are the same you don't need to merge them.

Let's say you want to bring the Project and the CCs from the other editor to your system to create one single Event with his Project and yours including his and your CCs.

1. Duplicate his Event and his Project onto an external drive.

2. Connect the external drive to your system. Both Events will show in your Event Browser and both Projects will show in your Project Browser.

3. Open the Project Library (CMD+O), select his Project and in the Inspector click the Modify Event References button. In the window that opens drag your Event to the top of the list and press OK. Now his Project will reference the media in your Event.

4. In the Event Library drag every CC of his Event into your Event. You will get a message that media will be copied over, but as all the media in your Event are the same as in his Event nothing will be copied at all.

5. Select your Event in the Event Library: all his CCs will appear in the Event Browser next to yours.

6. Delete his Event from the Event Library. Now you have one Event with your Project and his Project referencing this Event and all CCs inside it.
