Timecode of imports starting at 23 hours

I shoot with a Canon XH A1 recording the video to a Focus Enhancement FS5. When I import the video into FCPX I noticed lately my timecode is starting at 23:54:03:20 and counts up to past 00:00:00:00. I have made sure that the camera timecode starts at 00:00:00:00. The FS5 was set to use External timecode but the camera doesn't seem to be providing that. Where would I have gone wrong? I just now changed the FS5 to provide its own timecode and I hope that solves the problem.

I just did a test where the FS5 provides the timecode and still when I bring it into FCPX the timecode starts at 00:08:18:18. Can FCPX being providing this timecode. I have not put any clips in a project, I am only opening the clips in a timeline.
