Importing XDCAM in FCP X without a name change was created by Sjin
HI,
I'm trying to import native XDCAM (BPAV structure) into FCP X (creating optimized media, so rewrapping to XDCAM EX mov files). Everything works fine, except FCP changes the file names. Very annoying and unnecessary. Anyone who can tell me how to make in take the original file names as given in the camera?
note: Content Browser is not an option in this case. Long story.
Greetings

Lower right if the info inspector Apply Custom Name>Original name from camera. Is that not working?

Ok, so new things learned:
- The original name is in the metadata, can be seen in extended view and used by doing Modify > Apply custom name > Apply original name.
It's getting close, but doesn't solve my problem as the file in finder still has the wrong name. For some reason I can't change the import name. Even if I delete the other settings in "custom name"-list, it keeps doing that.

You can't do that. The finder file is whatever FCP assigns.
