- Following my "String"!!! It's kinda like Destiny, or Fate, or Karma, or God's Will, or what Oprah would call "The Secret", or Kismet, or simply just seeing what is my lesson in life for Today!!!

Is there a way configure FCP X to have the proxy files on an External Hard Drive. My MacBook Pro only has a 750gb SSD Hard Drive. For that matter, can I capture, I mean Import HDV Footage from my camera to an external hard drive also? The footage seems to only go to the Movie Folder. Thanks for any help in this matter.

When you import you can select which event to import to. If you don't have an event on your external drive, you can select it and create a new event there and import into it.
I don't think FCP makes proxy files for HDV. I think it's considered optimized already. HDV files are so compressed, proxies probably aren't any smaller.
