Compound Clips changed to regular clips was created by JFilmmaker1
Hi,
So I have an old project in FCPX that has some compound clips in it and recently I had to do some editing to it and found that the compound clips are un-editable. Now these worked fine previously and now have changed which I suspect is from upgrading the software. My question is has anybody else run into this and is there a solution?
Thanks

Uneditable? Interesting. In what way uneditable? Where is the compound, browser or project? What are you doing to edit it that's not working for you.

By uneditable I mean I can't double click on it and have it open up like a compound clip. FCPX just says its a regular clip, when I know it's not. Here is how I know because when one of my drives is off the media that is referenced on that drive in the compound clip goes missing while the other media is fine. The compound is in the project. The compound was created on like 10.0.5 so I'm wondering if it has something to do with the updates.

It certainly has something t do with updating. CC behavior has changed a lot since 10.0.8.
Can you R-click the CC and select 'Open in Timeline"?

Does the compound have the compound clip icon? Is it in the browser? Or the timeline?
If in the timeline, use Shift-F to see if it is in the browser also.

Yeah. with 10.0.6 all the compound clips changed to regular clips. You can still open in timeline, but it was annoying for sure. Part of Apple streamlining the FCPX workflow and improving performance dramatically. I notice I still have some speed issues with old projects - suspect it has something to do with this.

"with 10.0.6 all the compound clips changed to regular clips."
Really? I still see compound clips, with the compound clip icon. And double-clicking them in the timeline still opens them.
Sync clips are no longer compound clips.

Do compound clips created with a version of FCPX earlier than 10.0.6 look like compound clips to 10.0.6 and later? I don't remember. That could be the issue.
