Resistance isn't Futile, it is voltage divided by current.
best video conversion software? was created by Sniper X
A buddy who edits on FCP 7 needs some video conversion software so he can use footage from his 5D MKII on the timeline with his footage from hhis P2 camera.

You can convert your footage with Compressor.
I'm also flagging you as a possible spammer as you keep posting the same question about conversion.

Why not sue the official Canon plugin for FCP7 ? It's how I used to import 5D2 footage all the time and it did a great job. It also gave you lots of exif information, like shutter speed, aperture, ISO etc.

I think the problem is he shot it at a different frame rate and is having a ton of render time. I don't use FCP7 so don't know how compatible or not this whole thing is. He shot the video with a Panasonic AG-HPX170, and the DSLR footage with the 5DMKII and the DSLR stuff isn't 720P 25p, but the HPX170 footage is. I am unsure what frame rate he shot the footage with on the 5D is but his editor is complaining that the rendering time is in the tens of hours department.

Well, that's a totally different thing your asking.
There are a couple of things you could do, including using cinema tools to re-conform the speed to 25p and dump a 1080p sequence on to a 720p timeline. The only problem is if they are supposed to be looking at the same thing at the same time (e.g. multi cam) things will get out of sync pretty quickly.
If you're going from 24p to 25p then cutting from one cam to the other shouldn't be a problem unless dialog is involved (which won't go). If you're going from 30p to 25p then obviously you'll get a slight slo-mo effect.
Alternatively, you could bring the 5D in to FCP or Compressor at what ever it's native speed is and then render out to the new speed. This would be a one time hit in render time and you may see a very slight degradation but at least the other editor would have something to work with.
One way or another, 'someone' at 'sometime' will have to render
