Why do I only see 30 seconds of my MXF files when I import them from disk to FCP X?

I've copied several MXF files from a Canon XF105 card to an external disk. Then I've tried to import those into FCP X, with the same Canon camera plugin installed, but I only get 30 seconds of each clip in. When I import the same way into my AVID Media composer 5 I have no issues. What gives?

To import files from the XF105 using the Canon plugin you need the complete camera folder structure, not just the MXF files.

If you only have the MXF files you first should convert them with a utility such as ClipWrap and import the converted files in FCPX.

Apple randomly e-mailed me this the other day. Maybe it will help you:

Apple FCPX team wrote: By the way, the 30-second MXF issue you reported in December was due to a conflict with the Calibrated{Q} component. If you run into that issue again, remove Calibrated{Q} from your QuickTime components folder and reimport the clip.
