Opening an FCPX EVENT in FCP7

Opening an FCPX EVENT in FCP7 was created by Mickey G
So I need to send another editor my FCPX Event (not just sequences/projects) so he can open in FCP7.
Basically I have all the sound logged and synced and some scenes edited in compound clips and now he needs to open that to finish the edit.
I was going to buy Xto7 but in the demoes I’ve watched it seems to only send Project XML but again I need to transfer the Event in its entirety. I’d hate to spend the $50 if it doesn’t have that functionality.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

i know this isnt helpful, but tell your editor to buy FCP X or find someone else. It'll make your life easier. Instead of switching back and forth, which might have to happen 2 or 3 more times. Dont know the answer to your question about FCP Xto7

I know that would be the best option but the plan was for me to finish this whole thing in fcpx but due to circumstances he needs to finish it from where I left off and there is a bit of a time crunch so him purchasing, learning and finishing the project (ahem Event) is out of the question at this point.
I’ll dig around and see what I can figure out.
Thanks

Don't think so… I know Compound Clips for sure won't transfer from X to 7 with IA apps. You're best bet would be to make some projects, cut your CC's into them and break them apart (so the cuts are now in projects) and use X to 7 to export those. Them export all your synced audio/video clips as master files using Roles (which you've hopefully set) to keep the audio split correctly. As far as all the logged stuff, not really sure how to get that across to a 7 project, maybe someone else can chime in… but at least you can get your cuts and synced master clips to him fairly easily…. As long as he has all the source material as well your cuts should relink…. Actually, you could expand all your synced clips in projects as week and export that so he'd have master timelines with the synced clips as well, not just comped exports… A PITA , but it should work

Are you suggesting to export each synced file one by one or is there a way to batch them from the browser?
Thats what I figured I’d do with the few scenes that have been cut in compound clips, just put them in a Project for XML export.
BTW I went ahead and purchased xto7, figured it’d come in handy someday even if it does just translate cut sequences.
Anyway it definitely does not recognize an event w/ all the logging done in the browser the way 7toX does. Just says “No Timelines detected in this XML file”. Thats unfortunate as I find it much easier to log/sync in FCPX and then I could send that info off to FCP7 for those who want/need to cut in FCP7 or Premiere. Oh well...

As a workaround you can create a project with all the event media (select all, then press E).
Then, export XML from that project and open it in Xto7.
You can get a Sequence in FCP7 with all the audio synced.
Then you can drag it to bins. Just remember that audio + video must be linked in FCP7 in order to get merged clips in the bins.
