I have an exclamation icon attached to my newly imported event. I know it means something is not right with the event but how can I find out what exactly is wrong? All the clips in event browser seem to be fine. May be transcoding process was interrupted but I'm not sure. I left my FCP do the transcoding work after the import but later I found out that the program is not responding and had to force quite it. It could be that transcoding was not finished, though, I have 100% showing at background task window. So my question is - is there a way of finding the reason why exclamation mark appeared and what exactly is wrong with my event?

You are correct. Force-quitting FCPX while it was transcoding has interrupted the process and now the app simply says a process in your Event has been interrupted and requires your attention.
Group-select all the clips in your Event, R-click the selection and choose "Transcode Media". FCPX will transcode all clips that haven't been transcoded yet, it will ignore any clips that are already connected to transcoded media.
