Does anyone know what this effect is?

I want to create a video with this stop motion effect like this Asos video:

Do you think this is filmed normally and then an effect is added to it? If so, how would I achieve this?

That is stop motion, but if you think out your shots carefully you can use this to emulate the effect.

You can also simulate that effect pretty well by shooting with a high shutter speed. Here's a video I shot of an automated mixing board at a high shutter speed, it looks kind of animated. You just need to have a lot of light for those kind of shots. Maybe if you shot with a high shutter speed to get those sharp frames, then used the plugin from NocoDave, you might get some cool results.
