FCPX folders out of the spotlight. was created by Gino971
Hi everyone,
I red on a forum on internet that putting the FCPX folders (Events and Projects) in confidential mode in the spotlight setting can speed up the software.
I did it and i found FCPX a little better.
As i never heard about that on fcp.co i decided to share this info with you.
Let me know if you find a difference.

Could you give your computer specs to see if that might be a factor? Thanks.

Only helps older hardware. Newer Macs won't see any difference.

I have a mid 2011 27" iMac with i5 2,7 Ghz, 16 Go of DDR3 RAM at 1333 Mhz, an AMD Radeon 6770M with 512 Mo running Mavericks last developer preview and a APPLE LED 27" Display as second monitor. I don't put a SSD as yet so i'm still using the 1 To HDD given with the computer.

@Gino971 sorry for long delay. I have tried as you suggest but really see no difference. By confidential mode, I am assuming you mean to remove those folders from being indexed by spotlight. If so, then I have done that a few weeks ago, but as indicated, no difference that I could tell.

As said by BenB, this can help older Macs. Newer ones won't show any difference. After completely reinstalled my computer, i feel FCPX smoother and faster so this trick wasn't really efficient for my mid 2011 i5 iMac.
