fcpxml Distort value was created by JeffW.
hi,

I'm exporting fcpxml from Adobe Premiere and editing it in an AIR app - specifically a CS extension - after which I import back the edited project.

Mainly I try to replace clips that are on the timeline with other clips in the browser based on a string id that it is part of their name and pathurl.

I'm able to replace the file node which contains data like name, pathurl, widht, height and pixelaspectratio. I also replace name and pixelaspectratio values in the parent clipitem node.

Here is my problem:
If a user keeps the sequence settings when adding a clip to the timeline, a value is being set in a Distort filter.
When I replace the original data with data from the new clip, I don't know what the new Distort value should be. The Distort filter node looks smt like this:

<filter
><effect
><name
>Distort</name
><effectid
>deformation</effectid
><effectcategory
>motion</effectcategory
><effecttype
>motion</effecttype
><mediatype
>video</mediatype
><parameter
authoringApp="PremierePro"
><parameterid
>aspect</parameterid
><name
>Aspect</name
><valuemin
>-10000</valuemin
><valuemax
>10000</valuemax
><value
>-21.875</value THIS ONE
></parameter
></effect
></filter
>

Is there any way to find out what that value should be, based on sequence settings, and the aspect ratio, width and height of the new clip?

Do you know any other forums which would be more suitable for this question if this one is not? Feel free to move this thread to another category if posted wrongly, my first post here...

thanks,
Jeff.

I am using both Adobe Premiere CS6 & CC. I'm also importing it back into Premiere. So this is not a question about FCP, but about FCPXML.

The XML version used by Premiere is not that used by FCPX. It's used by legacy versions of FCP, versions 6 and 7. You might try here

www.fcp.co/forum/5-final-cut-pro-7-fcp7

Or the LAFCPUG or Apple Final Cut Studio forum.

Ah yes, true, it uses FCP 7 format. Please consider this topic to be closed, I'll post it there, thank you.
