Hi there everyone! I am new to this community and am looking forward to getting to know you all a little better :)

My question for right now however comes from an idea I had. I am starting school again in September, final year and am doing A-Level Media Studies. This year we are creating music videos, so over summer I have been researching music videos to find one that I would like to gain inspiration from, and the one I have come across is Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown music video. I shall link it here:

So what I would like to replicate in Final Cut is the sort of, almost strobe-like effect on the performer (watch his actions and mouth for example, it's very noticeable.) And also the sort of Graphic effect on the video, which there is already a tool for in FCPX. However, the part I am struggling with is as I said the strobe-like movements and also the wall-graffiti effect. I have been messing with some chroma key footage I have and have been fooling around with the Graphic effect to obtain the black and white effect on the video, but getting the wall overlay has been tricky and I was hoping someone or several people could provide assistance on how to achieve this effect?

Many many many many thanks :)

i'm not sure you will get exactly what you want in FCPX alone. You would be better off doing it in After Effects or even Motion. There is alot of 3D camera work that FCPX doesn't do natively.

The animated effect on the singer's movement is because his frames per second have been reduced from 25 to 8-10 or so I would guess - to replicate an animated character.

The singer's movements, that effect in Motion would be the Strobe behavior, inside of the Retiming behavior collection.

Textures from the walls on the images would be the Bump Map filter in the Distortion collection. This lets you apply the texture of an image in a lower layer, to the image above it. Example

The black and white silloette type effect would be in Motion to first apply the Colorize filter (Color Grading collection), remaping black to black and white to white. Then add below that the Posterize effect, with levels at about 3-5 maybe.
