So...my compound clips just started acting like multi-cam clips.

Short version: What happens when you blade a compound clip? It should split into two like any other clip correct?
Longer version:
I am away travelling and am here in my hotel room editing a doco when suddenly the way my blade tool interacts with my footage changed.
If I make a cut (Command-B or any other method) it does not cut the clip into two clips, instead it behaves as if it was a multi-cam clip. The perforated line appears and the clip stays as one as it I had selected a different camera angle instead of a cut.
I tried it on the next clip in the timeline (which was from exactly the same compound clip in the event browser) and it did not behave the same way. I tried others in the timeline, some did and some did not exhibit this behaviour.
I trashed my preferences, restarted and now ALL compound clips behave like this.
I should add that just before this happened I opened my project (created in 10.0.9 on my main machine) and on realising my laptop was still at 10.0.8 I shut down and upgraded. Not sure if that provides any clues...

Maybe you discovered a new feature? There where rumours about displaying through edits with a perforated line one day. Is it just the optics that changed? I mean, can you still edit like normal and it just LOOKS differently?

No, it behaves differently. If you click and drag it rolls the edit like a multicam clip would. Functionally I can live with it but since the project is an 8 part documentary based of 14 hours of keyworded footage I am slightly...concerned. Although of course the project is backed up.

It's a through edits indicator for CC, just like you have with multicam clips. And it behaves like a through edit in multiclips.
Try this:
Create a new CC
Blade the CC in two different places so you get three clips: the cuts between the clips will appear as dotted lines, indicating through edit.
Move the middle clip behind the last clip: the cuts become straight lines (no through edit).
Move the clip to the middle again: the cuts become dotted again.
Next thing we need is through edit indicators for regular clips and we're good.

Thanks Ronny - I must have been going crazy because i thought it was working on some but not others...I will check in a couple of hours when I am in front of the project again.

Wow Ronny,
I rarely blade CCs so I never this. Since when do we have this through edit indicators? Wish we had them for regular clips, too!

Since 10.0.9.
I guess Apple didn't mention this in the release notes because it still needs one extra step: in a multiclip you can join a through edit (= erase the cut between two continuous parts of a clip) by selecting the through edit line and pressing delete. This does not work on a CC yet. Surely it will work in the next update, same with through edits on regular clips. We really are moving on!

Ah, since 10.0.9!
Cool - I thought I was just imagining that this was new behaviour.

Unfortunately it doesn't quite behave like a through edit in a multicam clip. In the compound clip the through edit cannot be deleted as you can in a multicam clip simply by selecting it and pressing the delete key.

You are quite right Tom, and I have mentioned this in my answer above. But it's good to see Apple is working on restoring through edit functionality, hopefully also with regular clips. I'm really looking forward to the next feature update
