re-linking project files from external drive

Hi there,

I am brand new to FCPX. I have been working on my first project in 10.0.8 using an external hard drive where I have been keeping all project, event and original media files. The hard drive recently died and luckily, I have everything backed up via Time Machine on a separate drive. The only problem is now I cannot figure how to properly get it up and running again in FCPX. I have restored the files from Time Machine to a new external drive.

Which steps do I need to take to re-link the files with the project? I can see the project names and original footage in events, but I do not see any history of my time line or any compound clips and edits etc. YIKES!

I thought it would be as easy as placing the files back in the appropriate event and project folders but that doesn't work. Please HELP! I am in way too deep to start over again. I hope I can salvage my project.

Are you returning the enter Final Cut Projects folder and the entire Final Cut Events folder back to the root level of the new drive that's Mac OS formatted?

Post screen shots of the folder structure of your drive and what you see inside FCP. If done properly no relinking should be necessary.
