Custom size timeline was created by mester
doing a film trailer
its shot in 2:35, so the video is something like 1920 x 819
I did like this library.creativecow.net/articles/payton_...lines/video-tutorial but cant get it to work
I works, but my reference clip stays a clip and dont "transform" to a compound when I add something to it...
anyone knows a trick?
thanks

Go to the clip in the event browser you want to be the template for the timeline and instead of turning it into a compound clip just right click it and select "Open in Timeline". This timeline should have the exact resolution of the clip and you should be able to edit and export it like normal. I did it last week and it worked great.

Correct, Open In Timeline only opens the clip's own Timeline, it doesn't make it a compound clip. Compound Clip Timeline is different from a Clip Timeline.

The tutorial was made with FCPX 10.0.2. The CC structure inside FCPX was changed in 10.0.6, and now the clip when opened in its timeline does not change into a CC anymore when you add something to that timeline. This does not alter the fact that the create custom timeline process still works as before.
