Simple graphics move (NOT) was created by hmmhmm
Hi All
I've been using FCP for the past 6 years, and saw the time was to try new grounds.
So FCPX-Motion5-Compressor4 has been purchased and can see the program will be cutting of lots of time for me in my editing setup.
Here for the question, I've attached a video showing what I need to do. a simple graphic push in transition, and push out transition (where first picture(blue) is replaced with the second(red) in the push transition.
I want if possible to do the text in FCPX and just import the graphic as a .png
I've tried many different things. created a push wipe in motion but could not use it on both the graphic and text on the same time. keyframing makes ease in and ease out, and is not an option i can use.
Hope someone can help me with this.
Thanks in advance
Regards Henrik

I think we still have the embedding of graphics turned off after we got hacked.

There's a transition that will do that. Slide I think it's called. You have to change the default behavior in the inspector to push.

Thanks for quick reply
Actually I've found this transition via this forum - but what it gives me is a blurrish look when the transition is starting (giving it a speed look) which I want to get rid off. Do you know how to do that?
or can I modify it in motion5 (and how do I get it in motion).

Right-click on the transition in the browser and use open copy in Motion.

With a lot of the transitions I have this option, but not on this one?

Not sure why they won't let you modify this particular effect - trade secret perhaps!?
Anyway, here's a slide and push/pull transition for you that doesn't have the offending blur that you don't like.
Hope that helps.
Either use the Motion Template Tool installer (recommended) or copy the entire folder called TKY Slide and Push (without opening it up or doing anything fancy with it!) into your User/Movies/Motion Templates/Transitions folder.

You're quite right that Apple's version is a bit sub-standard.
In fact, it illustrates quite an interesting point, which is that they don't trust the performance of their own motion blur out of Motion.
The Slide effect uses a cheap and nasty directional blur to try and compensate for the lack of a real motion blur which would just take much too long to process.
You're quite right not to like the look of it.
Suffice it to say that there are major performance issues with plug-ins that are generated out of Motion and Apple need to put some serious work into addressing this.
Anyway, here's a new version of my slide/push effect which has the added bonus of a spin option - choose from the X, Y or X axes (or none if you prefer).

I think the Slide transition cannot be edited because Apple couldn't implement the plugin in Motion.
For example: making it so that the transition starts promptly whichever angle you choose - including custom and using the aspect ratio of your choice. Also making the OSC switch between the Pop-Up choices (using shift drag to constrain to 90 degree options) and the Custom option.
