Changing effect value on multiple clips

Let's say I select 18 clips on my timeline and apply 'Sharpen' to them. Now in the Inspector it will say 'inspecting 18 items' and I can see the value for sharpen, which is 2.5 by default. Let's say I want to change this to 5 on all clips. If I change the value to 5, only ONE of the clips gets changed, which means I have to select all the others again and paste the effect.
Is there a way to change effect values on multiple clips directly?

- any changes you make to the standard parameters in the Video tab (Scale, Position Rotation, Crop, Distort etc... except the Color Correction tool) will be applied to all the selected clips.
- any changes you make to Effects parameters in the Video tab will be applied only to the clip that sits under your playhead when you make the changes.
So if you want to apply an Effect with modified Effect parameters to multiple clips: FIRST add the Effect to one clip, modify the Effect parameters, copy the clip and THEN select the other clips and paste the Effect to the selection.
If you already have an Effect applied to multiple clips and you want to modify the Effect parameters: FIRST modify the parameters for one clip, copy the clip and THEN group-select the other clips, delete the original Effect from the selection in the Video tab and paste the modified Effect back to the selection.
This is how it works in FCPX, and for that matter also in Avid and Prpro.

I know. I make several adjustment layers in timeline for different scenes.
Dealing with 3 or 4 adjustment layers is still better than dealing with 100's of cuts on the timeline
