H264 to ProRes realtime? was created by willferox
Does anyone know if a MPEG Stream Clip transcode from Canon 60D H264 to ProRes is a *real-time* process?

I suspect there might be a bit of a difference between a 2010/12 12 Core MacPro, 2012 BTO Quad i7 27" iMac and a 2010 11" MacBook Air.
In short, your computer makes a big difference.
But why bother with that workflow when you can import directly into FCPX and have it do the transcode in the background while you work. If working with H.264 is really sluggish during that period then it's likely your computer won't be a speed demon in MPEGStreamClip either.

Do you have any idea how long a transcode would be on a MacBook Pro using FCP7?

On the current MBP Streamclip is a little faster than real-time.
