Color Correction/Matching Please HELP! was created by
So FCPx has the whole "duel viewer" which only allows the second viewer to view an event clip. But that doesn't help when you've already inserted your clips and arranged/cut them in the correct order.
I always insert my clips and cut my project before I do color correction. As it seems silly to insert a clip, color correct, color grade and then repeat the process for each clip. Of course I make some changes after coloring as well, but for the most part, i'm done with the actual edit before I begin my color correction/grading. As I'm sure many people do.
So my question is, why is there not a way to use the duel viewer to view two different clips in your timeline for color matching puposes? It would be so convenient/effecient to correct one image and then have it in one viewer with scopes open while I'm correcting the next shot.
I know theres the "create compound clip after corrected and select that clip in event" workaround, but that just seems unnecessary. It seems like there should just be an arrow tool that I can place on my slider and view that frame in the other viewer.
Am I wrong? Is there another way to do this other than creating a compound clip to view in the event viewer? Or is the duel view basically pointless because you can already match your subjects motion with a duel viewer in the timeline.

You're not wrong. The Viewer came out in 10.0.6, which was the last feature update to the software. So it's a 1.0 feature, and will very likely see improvement and added functionality in coming updates.
