Can't import media

Can't import media was created by alven
Hi.

I am working with a team of people and I am in charge of editing. I'm having a problem with the media. I can open it in VLC player, but I can't import it in final cut pro, I get the error message None of the selected files or folders can be imported. Change the selection and try again (the clips themselves are not highlighted)

I have imported files from this same camera before, but the last time this wasn't a problem. I can't remember the exact camera but it is a cannon (pro or semi pro camera), and I installed a plug in last time to be able to import, so I took care of that problem.

Last time (when I was able to import) I didn't remove the memory card safely ( and I don't know if this is why) but after that, the card did not work on the camera. I was told the SD memory card this time around had been reformatted, so now it worked on the camera again, BUT now I have a problem importing, like I said.

Does anybody know what the problem is, and how I can solve it?

Thanks you.

I've had trouble in the past with importing, getting an error message. What fixed it was to drag the folder with the footage in from the card (or hard drive to which it was copied) directly onto the relevant event in the FCPX browser. You could give that a go (I did still get an error message for the camera data files which it doesn't like but that's not a problem).

Dragging also didn't help. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Anyone else got any suggestions?

I downloaded a canon MFX to Mac converter, and that helped for the images, but another thing that is an issue, is that there is no sound to be found. we recorded with a separate mic which was plugged to the cam, wouldn't this be on the clip, or would it be separate?

It would really help to know the exact type of the camera, the format in which the video has been shot, and how you are trying to import the files (from the card in a card reader or from a copy of the card on your computer). Without this information we can only guess.

As to the audio: when you play back the files in VLC do you hear the audio?

When you play the clips back on the camera, do you hear the sound play back, also?

And yes, vital, what specific camera?

I can't tell you what camera right now (because I dont know, and its hard to get in touch with the owner at the moment)

I did find some information inside of MFX converter which might help, especially the audio information.

video format: mpeg2video
resolution: 1920x1080
frame rate: 25
bit rate: 50000kbps

Audio format: pcm_s16le
Sample rate: 48000Hz
Channels:1
bit rate 768000bps

Does this tell you anything? I take it that final cut pro does not support that audio format?

The audio also didn't play in the VLC player, but I think it did on the camera, I know we could see the sound waves and here it in the headphones.
