Advice on workflow

I have a two camera shoot of people talking about why they got an online degree. The final result will be snippets of footage from the four interviewees into a 60 second marketing video. I have created synchronized clips of each interview and want to cut just what I need from the clips. The problem I am having is that I can't assign Favorites to the portions of the clips that I want to use and also when I try to assign keywords to a range of footage, the keyword is applied to the whole synchronized clip. So what I am asking is what is the best workflow to working with synched clips when you are not needing all of the footage from each interviewee. Also I tried adding parts of the synched clips to an audition without any luck.

You aren't assigning favorites to the clip open in the timeline are you? Favorites get assigned in the browser. It may help fir long clips if you switch to filmstrip view.
