Alex Gollner calls it:

@Alex4D: #fcpx 10.0.9 might be released in the next few days. Mainly bug fixes plus a few features to keep the faithful happy...”
Reasoning being:
“Apple archived some old Logic Pro tech notes a few days before #LogicX. Many #fcp7 notes archived today”

It's Tuesday.... ;)

We need an update in a big way. Too many bugs in 10.0.8. I've worn out my feedback form.

Oh well, looks like it won't be today.

Apple archived over 100 Final Cut Studio 3 support documents yesterday.

Turns out that they did this because last week was the 4th anniversary of the FCS 3 launch.

Even if it isn't today (and the day is getting a bit long in the tooth), lest we forget that the last 2 maintenance updates dropped on Thursday.

10.0.8 is 124 Days young today- I'm itching to reset that update clock!

While I agree we need a bug fix- I think that realistically puts the BIG update for this year in the Oct/Nov timeframe.

It seems FCP X 10.0.9 was just released. Downloading it now. Seems to be just bug fixes.

• Addresses issues resulting in green artifacts when using Sony XAVC media
• Fixes several issues related to interlaced media and retimed segments which could cause exports to fails
• Includes stability improvements

It's out!

Dunno if there's many features in there though, not seeing any in the 3-line notes field in App Store update section...

There's one I needed though, 4K XAVC from Sony F55 image quality fix. It made 4K XAVC from 55 pretty unusable...

Invariably.

So, this update comes in at 124 days after 10.0.8.

The best average for Feature updates is about 3 months. And without another feature update since last October, they'll have had a year to prepare for this release. So I think we'll be sitting tight until the end of October. That lines up with some estimates for the release of Mavericks and the new MacPro.

Gosh darn it, a year in October. That does it! I'm demanding discs and printed manual. ;)

I think this bodes well for some big overall improvements. While individual features can be released on a shorter timeframe- broader changes will take time to implement across the application.

With a year to develop and implement, we could see a feature release as substantial as the annual changes to DaVinci Resolve, or Premier.

10.1 is where I think the FCP team needs close the loops on some of the big ideas they launched with 10.0. I'd like very much to stop talking about why I think Roles are a completely workable replacement for tracks in the theoretical sense.

Any non-official tweaks in this new update? A list of crushed bugs?

The issues with adding timeline clips to drop zones seem to have been fixed.

I'm curious to see what un-announced fixes there are. There have been some small ones in the past that have been helpful.

I think it's funny that my App Store icon was always showing an available update only to find out it was 10.0.8 which I already had. Now that there's a new update the App Store icon is silent. LOL!

Sadly I spoke too soon. I went from 10.0.8 consistently only showing the final frame of a timeline clip as a still in drop zones to 10.0.9 being erratic and unpredictable. It seems, though I don't want to be speaking too soon again, that it might be working well consistently the times that FCPX has been opened that it works, but that's not great anyway.

I've had the freezeframe in dropzone problem regularly. My solution/workaround was to make a compound clip of the clip I want in the dropzone (don't know why this works). Then the start of the drop zone matches which frame I click on the compound clip.

I had found that to work too Robert, but it isn't always ideal.
