How to install font styles on the new computer

Hi,
I have started working on old projects my new iMac. In one particular project I found that the fonts did not transfer across, mucking up the layout. I then found that those fonts were missing from the new computer so I installed the missing fonts, however I found that the font styles have not been transferred across. How do I do that? where are those font styles stored?

thanks

Ian

Most or many fonts have separate fonts displays and outlines for each style. You have to make sure you install them all.

Everything goes into the system's FontBook.

Thanks Tom

That didn't work either, however I have solved the problem.

To save a text style to the new computer ,do the following after installing any missing fonts on the new computer.

Go to users/library/application support/ motion/Library/Text Styles and copy contents and paste to the same folder on the new computer.

Please note that users/library is a hidden folder and as such I just use the go to command in finder.

Then go to the movies directory and copy and paste any missing titles from the old titles folder under Motion Templates to the same folder on the new computer.

I think it's important to install the fonts first, then the text styles, followed by the titles.

I hope this helps others because it has certainly consumed many hours of frustration for me.

I suspect if I had not used styles it would have been a little simpler.

Did you download the additional Motion content on the new computer?

So nothing to do with font styles, but Motion content and nothing to do with FCP.

Tom, there is some confusion between the term font styles and Text Styles which I have carelessly used interchangeably. The folder names as given are correct however the general term I should be using is font style. ie I should have used the term "font syle" when I wrote to save a" text style".

What you have suggested is strictly true in the sense that all the alterations are carried out in the two motion directories (one under movies and the other under application support) since the title templates are all stored there. However it is in FCPX that the motion templates are used, and that is where the problems show up.

Tom

I forgot the first question.

I did download the new motion content from my old computer.
