Mono and Stereo options "grayed out"

I've got a clip with dialogue panned left. No problem, I think, I'll just turn the clip to mono...but when I go to that, it's locked on Stereo, and those options are all "grayed out".

Any thoughts on what is probably a very simple mistake on my part?

Ok, nevermind. I figured out that I needed to go back to the multicam clip in the event browser, and change it to Dual Mono there, then the option also became available to me in the timeline. Not sure why...but, oh well.
