Workflow using synced clips

I am working on a marketing video for our communications department. The video footage is of four people answering questions as to why they chose this program. We have both cameras A & B footage and I have it synced. Not all of the video of each person will be used, only segments that correspond with the marketing plan. My question is what is the best workflow to create this video with the synced clips?

Here is what I am doing now. I am viewing the synced clips and cutting both clips of the wanted footage of both A & B, and then copy and paste those into an empty compound clip. So there is a lot of back and forth. I would like to either Favorite or Keyword the clips and then by using those factors assemble the video either in a timeline or another compound clip. Using the Blade to cut an area and then keyword just that section is adding the keyword to all of the clip and not just the cut portion. Also you can't make the cut synced clips a favorite.

Is there a better way to work with the synced clips?

With the sync clip in the Browser select a range, give that range a keyword or make it a favorite. When you've done them all, go to the Browser's clip filter, and set it to show only favorites or whatever. Maybe create a smart collection.

When I select the synchronized clip in the event browser it does not matter what I select as a tool, I only get the hand. The whole clip is selected and I can't select just a portion. That is why I have been opening the clip in the timeline and cutting and pasting the clips into another compound clip.

OK I went back and tried again. If I select the Keyword in the Event Library and then the synchronized clip then I am able to select a range. I am not sure why if I select the Event and not the keyword and then select the synched clip that the whole clip is selected and I can't select a range. Is this a bug?

It depends on what is already selected. If the whole clip is selected, yeah, it won't just drag. Not sure if that is by design or a bug. You can also use I and O keyboard shortcuts with the Skimmer enabled, or use them by just clicking on the In point and hit I, etc. Yes, you'll only see the hand mostly, which I think is not right, but let's hope that changes to an arrow in an update. Yeah, when the whole clip is highlighted, in the List view, you can't just click and drag, which is a real drag.

Now that I have key worded my clips, when I pick a keyword and then want to add it to the timeline, the clip comes in a collapsed clip. The only way I can get it opened is to open it in its own timeline. I just want to be able to add it to main timeline as open and then edit back and forth from Camera A to Camera B. Am I over doing this?

You lost me. What do you mean as a collapsed clip? You can always right-click any clip in a Timeline and open it into it's own Timeline. Is that what you're asking?

If you want to cut between Cam A and Cam B, you don't want a sync clip, you want to create a Multiclip, edit back and forth in that. That's what its made for.

Yes I meant the synched clip as the collapsed clip. The reason I used the synced clip is that I have to cut out parts of the video that we do not want, such as when the talking head says "um", "so", "ah". To get around the jarring jump in the video when removing these sounds I go to the B roll which is shot as a closeup and to the side of the A roll. If I were to do the same with Multicam am I able to come back afterwards and edit out those sounds?

Thank you. You are very helpful.
