Paste into secondary storyline

Hey gang,
Anyone have a workflow suggestion for pasting a clip into a secondary storyline? Right now I copy the clip I want to work with, paste it, and then drag into the secondary storyline. I've arrived at the assumption that you can't paste into a secondary storyline. But, I'm tossing it out there in the hope that I may just be missing something. (like today - just learned about the trim to selection function. Never thought to look for it because I just used the other trim tools)
As always, thanks in advance for your time and talents!

You can't paste into a secondary storyline, but you can append to a secondary storyline. Probably won't save you much time, but you could select the clip you want to paste into the secondary storyline, match frame (Shift-F), make sure your secondary storyline is selected, then hit E (for append edit) or W (for insert).

I've always wished for a paste into secondary storyline as well (i've even submitted feedback for this to apple!).
Never thought of the way kyletron2000 suggested, not ideal but a decent enough workaround. Here's hoping apple create a paste into secondary storyline!

Doesn't a clip cut from a secondary storyline not paste into the secondary again if you've already lifted it out of primary?

In my experience @mistermattsmith when I cut a clip from a secondary story line and use the past function, the clip pastes as a separate secondary storyline. A copied connected clip pastes as a connected clip. A clip copied from the primary storyline will paste back into the primary storyline.
I'm sending a feature request in now to Apple. It makes sense (to me at least) that if I highlight a secondary storyline, FCP X should recognize that that is where I'd like to paste my clip. That said, its an annoyance, not a show stopper. My workaround is to paste and drag.

I've been using option drag when I want to copy a clip. Not really that great if you have to drag it way down the timeline, but it's less steps than copy, paste, place.
