Duplicating Project command (used clips only) is duplicating unused compound clips

I am loving the compound clips functionality and using it constantly.
However I am experiencing an issue:
If I duplicate a simple Project:
- containing no compound clips
- with the "used clips only" option selected
- who's primary event does contains compound clips
...then those compound clips are being duplicated regardless of not being in the Project (timeline).
Is anyone able to confirm/explain this?
Many thanks

Are there clips in the compound clip that are used in the project?
No. As stated:
If I duplicate a simple Project:
- containing no compound clips
But if you are asking if there is a clip in the timeline that is also used in a compound clip then the answer is yes.

That's why the compound clip is included.
Could you help me understand, or suggest a resource that would help me understand this?
If I am understanding correctly the command which says "Duplicate Project and used clips" could say "Duplicate Projects and used clips plus any compound clips containing clips used in the project"
That little addendum means that because I have a single graphic used in the simple cut as well as in 10 far more complex cuts (which have been turned into compound clips), the command "Duplicate Project and used clips" applied to the simple edit brings all media from all 11 edits.
And this is simply because of a common graphic?
Surely this can't be correct.

This is correct. I think I explained that. Used clips means any part thereof. One graphic used that appears in a compound clip and the CC is duplicated. One second of a one hour clip and the one hour clip is duplicated. The CC is treatment as a complete video clip. You are using a portion of that clip (or a clip that's inside the CC). Duplication and media management need work.

You said that, yes - but no, you didn't explain it.
I don't see the logic. I hope you can help me see what i am missing...I am not using the CC in the duplicated project. Sure, the Project is using the clip that the CC in the event also happens to be using, but I am duplicating the project, not the event. There is no reason for FCPX to duplicate the CC.
What am I missing?

Yes. But the point is that I have created compound clips during the edit that have since been deleted from the project and now only exist in the Event.
Then, when I duplicate that CC-less event (used clips only option) the CC's and their contents are duplicated despite being only in the Event - not in the project.
Please use feedback.
Do you mean feedback to Apple?
Are you suggesting this might be a bug? I would be satisfied with that as understandable. It is harder to grasp the idea that this is how it is designed to work - that just wouldn't make any sense.
Or am I misunderstanding the feedback reference?
