Full Overlap (FCPX version 10.0.7)

Full Overlap (FCPX version 10.0.7) was created by Liz
Help. Does anyone know how I can get a full overlap as the version I HAVE (10.0.7) doesn't have 'available media' in preferences. Also, it DOESN'T give me an option to overlap two clips regardless of their length. I always have enuff handles so it's not that! Why has fcpx made this simple transition so difficult or seemingly impossible? Also, does version 10.0.8 resolve it??
Thanks!
Thanks!

The full overlap function is still there. If you try to add a transition without enough handles a dialog should appear offering to shorten the project. You should update to the bug fixer, which is what 10.0.8 is. I don't know if it addresses your problem.

Hey Tom
My trouble though is that I always have enough handles. I've even tried to delete handles (i know, ridiculous) and I can't. I keep reading the same reply you gave in forums but this doesn't apply to my situation. What do I do now?
Kindly, Liz

Did you update the software after making the backup of the app?
Depends on the transition, but you might try lifting a clip from the storyline and overlapping it manually.
I have heard of your problem but I've never seen it. Can you post a screen shot of the timeline?

No to your first question. Didn't make a back up the program before updating it. Probably should have in retrospect. I assumed the new version would be better.
I tried overlapping the clips manually but to no avail.
I won't post a timeline, only because I'm a teacher and the timeline involves my students. You understand.
I have an awful feeling that I will never be able to do a full overlap with this current program. Bummer.
