Sync issue because a 1 frame misalignment? was created by Betancourt
Hi friends,
I made some videos for a winery. I did all the edit, except for the motion graphics texts, that were done by other friends. As my audio seemed to be low, they increased the level in a dedicated audio software, and then it was imported into an after effects project. There was 1 frame (of 24) misaligned that they didn't notice. Me either. But the client is telling us that there is a sync issue between image and sound.
I captured the original audio in camera (5dmark III) with a sennheiser g3 wireless lavaliere mic. Because I was using a 2nd camera, I did two claps at the beggining to help fcpx to autosync the multi cam. I double checked my original video and sound. They match perfectly.
If I put the original video over the final version in the timeline, i get an echo due to this frame misalignment, but watching them separately; i just cannot notice the difference.
So my question is if 1 frame error can be noticed.
Here are the videos:

Many thanks!

1 frame can indeed be noticeable, depending. You can easily adjust it. Select the audio clip, Type in - (to move left) or + (to move right), then .1, then enter, done. I don't see any sync issues with what you posted, though. Yet if the client sees it, it must be fixed.

Yes, I'll fix it. Anyway I think that this is not the problem. Vimeo sometimes has some issues on slow internet connections. Maybe the client saw a problem a couple of times, and now, after watching and rewatching many times, is not sure anymore.

Well, this is pretty weird.
I filmed with two cameras (5dmark II and 5d mark III).
The mark III recorded the sound from a Sennheiser G3 lavalier wireless mic.
The mark II recorded sound with its internal mic, just for sync.
I did the auto sync with fcpx. Looking at the waveforms, they match perfectly. But the Mark II image has a 1 frame delay.
How on earth can this be possible? 1 of the two mics is recording with a delay?
So 1 frame wrong here, plus the frame wrong in after effects correction, now we have 2 frames wrong.
So my client is right, despite I cannot see/hear the issue.
