fcpx crashing with compound clip

I'm trying to get a bunch of stills in my timeline into a compound clip so I can move them around as one unit. Every time I try, the program crashes. I've animated each picture using keyframes, so that might be the problem. Not sure why it would do that even so. I don't have the option of creating a story line instead (option grayed out), so not sure what to do. thx

I don't think it has anything to do with the stills being animated. I just tried the same thing with five oversized and animated stills and it works without any issues. So this brings us to the following questions:

- how many stills do you want to compound?
- what's the average pixel size of these stills?
- how much RAM do you have?

Thanks. I have 16 gb of RAM. There are only five pictures - I fade each in and out of black and have slow zooms with some rotation adjustments. That's it. The pictures are anywhere from 2-6 MB. I hadn't considered that. I've already worked around it, but it seems like a funny thing to crash over, no?

Wait - pixel size? Not sure what that means.

Sounds like a corrupted image to me. Perhaps a JPEG or other image that is just written incorrectly (some apps just write the mwrong.)

I would open in preview or photoshop, export as a different format and I'll bet that fixes it.

That might be an explanation. I'll check into it. Thanks.

Also check the colorspace of the image. CMYK images do not work, they need to be RGB. This problem might occur if you got the images from the internet or a source that was intended for print.
You can use Photoshop or mac's ColorSync Utility to make this change.

Pixel size referring to the dimensions of the image. I generally don't go much bigger than double my project size.
So 1920 wide becomes a maximum of 3840 for my stills.
