Dear (very goodly) all,
Many of you have been very kind to respond to my previous major problem (corrupted event files).
I post a new request here for help and advice, as this other problem (that caused the corruption), is a separate one, and new to fcp forums, from what I can see.
After I open fcpx, no sooner do I try any form of render, that it suddenly shuts down my macbook dead.
Has done it some 30 times already.
Here is the info, which really leaves me totally bewildered:
I fully uninstalled and reinstalled fcpx 10.0.8
Emptied prefs, took out any third parties, took out ALL events and projects, and tried with just one simple clip, still crashes.
I reistalled osx, I ran disc utility (all fine).
I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the previous fcpx 10.0.7 version ...still crashes my mac!
Ran all tests possible, reinstalled, and cleaned up all possible.
I use latest macbook, and an external firewire disc.
Crashes seconds after I request a render.
It suggests maybe a hardware problem, maybe a graphics one, would you agree?
(but have not been able to use the apple hardware test, since it won't accept my network password (a known problem).
Any help more than appreciated.
I attach a crash report, that I known not how to interpret...
Many thanks ot all

I've seen this before but it was a long time ago. The solution? Took it back to Apple who found that the logic board was faulty. I think this is where your at now. Sounds to me like you've done everything you can.
Take the device to Apple and show them what's happening.

i would not be surprised is the prognosis was as very bleak as what you say
(very bleak as i cannot afford a new computer, less in this country where macs are priced at 250% of the US price).
If anyone out there has a less tragic possibility, be all ears.
one question: would the computer really work fully, and no problems at all in all depts, (other than fcpx renders) if the board was faulty? It would ONLY affect fcpx and nothing else?

A good reason why it is mainly affecting FCP X is the GPU. So that could be the culprit.
If you can't afford to buy new then why not go to eBay? Is that an option in your country?

As a retired IT engineer, I can assure you that apps don't shut down your computer like that, bad hardware does. The app just triggers the bad hardware. FCP stresses some parts more than most apps will ever do. I have an older MBP that fried. Apple Store repaired it for $300, the standard charge for fixing out of warranty units (in the US at least). New drive, logic board, GPU, it ran nice, and only $300.
But yes, that is the core of your issue, bad hardware some where inside the unit, for sure.
