Upgrading Final Cut Pro X to newer versio

Hi Guys,

Quick question. I have Final Cut Pro x 10.0.5 and I want to use Twixtor to so some ultra slow motion work.

Twixtor only works with 10.0.8 or above, so I'm going to upgrade.

My concern is that I have loads of events and half edited projects in my current version of FCP. If I upgrade, do I run the risk of losing or changing them in any way or does Final Cut just keep all assets the same in the newer version?

Is there any precaution that I should take?

Thanks,
x

FCPX will upgrade you´re old projects and event automatic. This has not been any problems for me.

If you're worried simply make a copy of your 10.0.5 version and hide any Events and Projects by putting them in folders labelled 05 Events, 05 Projects. That way you don't run the risk of any weird things happening.

Having said all that I've experienced no problems at all upgrading my projects to 08.

I haven't had any issues with Event/Project upgrades either. And been doing it regularly since 10.0.3.

To be safe, read this Apple KB article.

I have in fact seen a couple of projects become corrupted during an update. It is extremely rare, but not impossible.
