Is this fixed in 10.0.8?

I am using the qwe and d keys on the keyboard to quickly put my shots in which usually works great. But once my timeline got a little more complicated for this music video it started doing WEIRD things. when I would try to append a shot to the end it would not be at the end, and would get slightly chopped and i've have to go in and trim it back. it seemed like there's a bug somewhere where the timecode is lost and it thinks the end is somewhere else.

i was just using mp4s from youtube to edit something, maybe if its all pro-res you wont get issues like this.

i really liked the program until this glitch started happening, and i also got the beach ball error on playing and i had to spend time reading about deleting render files on the project and the event to fix it.

ALMOST an awesome program except for these bugs that get in the way of editing!

BUT i was able to edit this

vimeo.com/69224757
password: machine

the timeline isn't super complicated, but there are a lot of cuts. if FCPX can't keep up with my edits then i will have to look elsewhere

if anyone has any info on why this glitch happens i'd love to know! i'll try to get a screenshot of it next time it happens to show what i mean

also i was using position tool a lot for placing shots exactly where i wanted them. if the position tool causes issues like this then FCPX will become worthless

MPEG-4 should never be used in production. It's an acquisition and delivery format. The media needs to be converted to QuickTime or optimized on import. In addition to the MPEG framework, who haven't provided any information about the media, frame size, frame rate, video codec, audio codec, sample rate. All of these will be a factor in performance, also of course your computer and your hard drives.

i DID select optimize footage on import. the media specs are all different since they were from different sources. performance isn't the issue the program ran fine. Maybe if there are different frame rates /sizes etc, somehow the end point of the storyline is confused and append doesn't work properly

I'm sure if i used this on a more normal edit where everything is from the same source then this wouldn't happen

Mac Mini 2.66 Duo
8GBs RAM

OS X 10.6.8

firewire 800 drive external 7200rpm

im editing a feature film with FCP7 on the same machine which works great. this was my first FCPX attempt. I did a bunch of tutorials on FCPX before attempting so I understand it very well. Love the keywords functionality.

I opened the project today and tried appending stuff and the glitch wasn't occurring today. maybe it depends on what file I am selecting a clip from though. maybe the wrong specs that don't match the timeline would throw it off
