Simple Slideshow in FCPX was created by Andywilk38
I'm a necomer to FCPX; forgive me if I don't express what I'm trying to achieve using conventional technical terms.
I am trying to create a slideshow in FCPX, instead of in Lightroom 4, because I know I will have far greater control of how it looks and is presented. However, I'm finding the following difficult to achieve:
Note: I'm not interested in Ken Burns at this stage....
1. I want each image to be visible 'in full' inside a 16:9 frame. The imported image might not be in the same proportion as 16:9 e.g. if I import a portrait (vertical orientation) image I want to be able to see the entire image - it will fit top to bottom and have quite a lot of unused space either side.
2. I want the images to sit on a coloured background that will also act as a frame/border around the image, that will adjust in its resultant size according to the proportions of the image that 'fits' the frame. Each image, whether landscape or portrait, is to have a minimum size/width border around it.
3. I might later wish to apply Ken Burns or other effects to the images viewed within the coloured border.
Thanks

1. That's the default behavior to fit the image to the screen.
2. Use generators to place a color or texture on a layer underneath your images.
3. Put your images on the primary storyline. Connect the generator underneath it.
