Adjust Exposure Without Affecting Saturation - Possible?

I'm grading some unevenly exposed clips to match each other, and find that I constantly need to tweak the saturation once the exposure adjustment has been made. In Photoshop I'd set an adjustment layer to luminosity mode so it wouldn't affect the colours. Is a similar trick available in FCPX? Or is there a plug-in that offers this?

Not sure you can do this in FCP X. You can definitely do this in DaVinci Resolve though.

This might help... (

you'll want to turn your sound off on this first link, the page starts a completely unrelated video which is annoying & can't be turned off - when will they ban those?)

You can try noise industries curves and levels plugin, and adjust exposure on Luma mode. That is suppose to not affect color.
