key-combo 'Standard Effect'? was created by Karsten Schlüter
… as a hobbyist, it took a while to realize, to experience the full beauty of FCPX, I should learn/use key-combos.
cmd-t to apply 'my' standard transition is very useful, 'cause I'd created my own 'soccer ball transition' in Motion, very handy to apply it 'left handed', instead of 'diggin' and droppin'' via mouse from the list.
now.... :
I haven't found a way to define a standard effect. (e.g. blur, or, again, my own)
Nor, a way to address a key-combo.
… did I miss this feature? Or, is this not avail (yet)?
Thanks for helping a noob!

Command-T is the Default Transition.
In the Transition browser, right-click any transition, from the pop-up menu select "Make Default".
To see which is currently the Default Transition, go to the Transition browser, select "All" at the top of the left hand column, the first one listed is the Default Transition.
In the Preferences, you can set the Default Duration for transitions.
Here's the user manual page for this, there may be more info that you'd be interested in.

I didn't mention titles, but no, there is no default Effect, nor a default Title.

… tab-browsing … you didn't, I mixed something up … sorry.
ok, no secret key-combo.- hmmm....
In my non-existing understanding of engineering, shouldn't be no problem - if a standard transition is optional, you should be able to define standard-effect of standard-title.
I'll write an enhancement suggestion .......... Thanks, Ben, anyhow!

Do you know about pasting attributes, Karsten? You can apply this special effect to one clip and adjust it to taste. Then CMD-C that clip. Select all the other clips you want that effect on and hit CMD-SHIFT-V. Choose the effect you want to add. Click okay. Done.
Not what you asked for but might be a timesaver for your task.
