Broadcast signal intrusion - hijacking tv signal effect was created by lesliewrg
Hey guys,
I'm sorry if I haven't put this post in the right place, please feel free to move the thread if necessary.
I'm looking to see if anyone has or knows of a 'broadcast signal intrusion' effect? In other words a hijacking effect like you see in movies and tv shows (alien invasions, terrorist broadcasts, etc...)
If you know of any software, or tutorials, etc please drop me a link, there doesnt seem to be much online.
thanks in advance.

The bad TV filter (keyframing the "amount" and "roll" parameters) and a dissolve, or 2 clips stacked and a keyframed opacity flutter kind of thing, or a flutter cut on the incoming our outgoing clip combined with the bad tv filter. If you want digital noise, there's also "glitch" filters out there which will kind of do it for you. Also, the audio is just as important as the picture with these types of tricks. Lots of filters in X to mess with here, just screw around, you'll get it.

I've made a version of the Bad TV effect with more controls.

The page also shows how to keyframe the vertical position of the video.
Connect your intrusion clip to the main storyline and apply a Bad TV effect to it, add transitions to the start and finish. You could change the compositing blend mode (Inspector:Video:Compositing:Blend Mode) and also keyframe its Opacity.
