Had timeline appear in both viewer AND event viewer in sync. Now I can't replicate it. was created by chrisb
Hi,
I am in the middle of a grading session in FCPX, and earlier today, I switched on the event viewer in the hopes that I could use the second scope, so I would have 2 showing all the time, instead of switching between single scopes.
To my surprise, it sort of worked.
Some way or the other, and I have no idea how, I had my timeline running in both my viewer and event viewer, in sync and all. Very close to the "open sync" option in FCP7.
So for a few hours, I was able to view both vectorscope and waveform meter on the same image (that was showing in both viewers).
I then had to restart my computer for different reasons, but when i re-opened FCPX, my timeline had disappeared from my event viewer.
I've tried all can, but can't seem to get my timeline to display in the event viewer again.
I can't remeber exaclty how I got my timeline up in the event viewer in the first place, but it was along the lines of
- show event viewer
- in event browser, pressed shift-cmd+a to de-select clip.
- active timeline then seemed to load in event viewer.
Problem is, I can't replicate this. Now, when de-select all clips in the event browser, it just turns black with "nothing loaded" displaying.
Any clues out there?

Are you using a compound clip for your timeline or a project?

Technically it is not supposed to sync at all. I'd say you have a fluke accident.

Damn, thought as much.
Nope, no compund clips of any sort.
But what a fluke, I must say. Had it going for a couple of hours there. Seemed the perfect workaround until we get multiple scopes.
On a related note... grading on a deadline in X is really cumbersome. Constantly flipping through scopes and tabs in the color board. Hope Apple adds color wheels and keep all parameters in a single tab somewhere down the road. Or at least give devs (specifically Red Giant) the possibility of doing custom UI for grading. Colorista, I miss you so!

All my grading is done in Resolve, very nice tool to learn.
I'd love to see scopes as a floating window that can do multiple scopes at once.
