I'm sure this is redundant, but I just started a new job and want to discuss.
I just took over all video production responsibilities at a recording studio, including editing with FCPX. My first job was to make some revisions for rough cuts on some corporate videos. The editor before me started editing years ago on FCP7, but moved to FCPX and loved it. However, he treated it like FCP7 and basically treated connected clips like tracks and didn't take advantage of the metadata or syncing features.
Since its a recording studio, we end up shooting music videos. After shooting 12 takes of a band playing to their recorded song, I showed my boss the raw power of multicam editing and had 12 angles playing at once while I cut live. Just to be a show off I hit the L key twice to make the cut even faster. It took me 2 1/2 minutes to put together a rough cut of a 5 minute song with 12 different angles. This blew him away and he got so excited about how all that time assembling a rough cut could be used for other parts of the production. With the FCP7 way of editing it took the old editor hours to do what I did in 2 1/2 minutes.
Man, I love iMovie Pro! At this point I'm really starting to hope more people don't use it. Once the people writing the checks realize how much time it saves, everyone else will be left in the dust. FCPX really is a game changer, I'm so glad I committed to it 100%.
