no playback from browser

For some reason, I can only play back clips from my timeline. When I go up to the browser to choose selects, I can't get the clips to play back. I've rebooted a few times, lowered the number of projects and still ng. I've tried different events, switched keyboards, mice - nothing. Changed the playback setting to better performance. I'm using a Macbook Pro 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 - 16 GB memory. This has never happened and I haven't changed anything I can think of. Has anyone else run into this? thx

Exactly what keys are you using to playback? Even in List Mode, you need to click on the filmstrip view first before it will playback (really odd IMHO that I have to manually select the filmstrip in list mode). You may be doing all of this anyway, just starting off with the most obvious and working from there.

I'm using the space bar and/or the play button. I'll try it in list mode and see if that makes a difference.

I've just switched computers - now on my Mac Pro and it's fine. I have the events & projects on a portable Thunderbolt drive. Wondering now if it's a Macbook Pro problem. Is 16 GB not enough RAM? I hope this is something I can resolve because I'm on the road a lot this summer and I cant have a work flow that won't allow me to select clips from my browser.

I also have a rMBP, and it plays back just fine. Very odd behavior.

Another thought, as I just saw this on someone's machine. Verify 10-15% free space on all connected drives. Less than that can cause the weirdest symptoms.
