Hi! I often need to import MTS to FCP X. I used to do this by Importing files from Camera. I tried to do this yesterday andFCP just couldn't see my camera. I also tried doing it in iMovie and it didn't work.
After I converted MTS to MOV, but got this error when tried to play it:
The document “moviename.mov” could not be opened. A required codec isn't available.

PLEASE HELP!

What specific camera are you ingesting from?

MOV is simply a QuickTime file format, that can be one of dozens of "codecs". What "codec" did you convert it to be in the MOV format?

AAC is audio...

ProRes 422 would be a fine codec to choose if your conversion software allows.

FCPX will do this for you if ask it to make optimised media. You can do this on import or afterwards.

FCPX will only import mts files from a camera or a camera disc or camera archive or camera disc image

Ian.
