I am pulling my hair out over this, I really hope I can fix this within the project I'm working on because I've already done an enormous amount of editing (thinking this could be fixed later), but I've got a project with clips with two different frame rates (29.97 FPS and 22.61 FPS) and FCPX imported the clip that was originally at 22.61 FPS and changed it to 4 - yes, FOUR - frames per second...WTF. The project's FPS was preset to 23.97 FPS because I knew that one clip would be at 22.61 FPS and 23.97 is as low as FCPX will go. So the project is set to 23.97 and yet I've got one clip at 29.97 and the other at 4 FPS.

Please, please, please tell me I can change the clip that's currently at 4 FPS back to its original 22.61, or at least something more reasonable like 29.97 or 23.97 (yes, I know that this means FCPX will repeat frames, this is fine as it's a screen capture video).

If this is not possible and I will have to re-import and re-edit (ugggh) this clip (the one that's currently at 4 FPS, the other one is fine) then please tell me how to do this as I have tried several times and FCPX keeps insisting on importing set at 4 FPS.

If it makes any difference the problem clip in question (originally at 22.61 FPS that FCPX keeps insisting on setting at 4 FPS) is a screen capture video from QuickTime.

Many thanks ahead of time for any help anyone can offer.

FCP only works with standard video formats. All these weird frame rates need to be converted to frame rates and formats that are used in production, not compressed video formats in GOP compression formats. Frames rates are only part of the problem. Convert your media to standard frame rates using I-frame codecs before importing into FCP or any other production application.

Thanks Tom, I actually just fixed it yesterday with precisely that solution, except I used QT to do the converting (via the "export" function). Regrettably I will have to re-do all my editing :(
