Compound Clip not relinking files

I have a compound clip that when I go to relink the missing files, (which I do find), it does nothing and stays red. The files are now in the event browser though.

Also the four or five projects I made with this event have missing files as well....however all of the media is in the event browser with the the selected areas to them that coincide what was used in the timeline. When I click modify event properties it says the files are found but never applies the results to the timeline.

FRUSTRATING!!!!!

If this compound clip was created in another event and it's not open it won't let you relink. You need the event open or copy the compound clip from the original event to the new event.

Hope it help,

Thanks Ricky. However this was all self contained into one event. Just many projects off of the one event. I think I found the culprit. In my house cleaning of my Mac last night...things got weird for this event/project. Ultimately had to reimport footage from another drive. Come to find out I didn't have the copy to final cut event folder checked. However it was referencing the files off of the other drive. Maybe compound clips need the actual files imported though?

Hmmmm... Now all clips have been reimported to the event. However. The timeline will not load up with the clips. It's all red. Like I said they are in the event browser and showing the range of what is used in the timeline....they just are not in the timeline. When I right click the clip in timeline and select show in event browser nothing happens. WEIRD!!

Anyone?

That is odd. Fill out the feedback form for sure!

What if you re-launch FCP?
Can you right-click the CC in the Timeline and "Find In Event Browser"?
What if you do a Replace edit to the Timeline version from the original?

Hey Ben! Yeah this is nuts! Form is filled and sent. I've relaunched several times and noting gives. The compound clips have been restored to where they need to be. However the clips in the timeline are not showing. They are in the event Browser. hey are physically in the Event folder in the finder. They just will not link up. When I right click on the timeline clip and show in event browser it doesn't respond. However the ranges are on the clips in the browser. At this point to reconstruct the 6 projects I will have to copy the clip in timeline, drag the ranged clip from the Event browser to the clip on the timeline. replace from start, then paste attributes to that clip. Pain in the arse! 6 projects, 3 minutes each, many clips...yadda, yadda, yadda. I'm just glad it's projects that have been delivered.

To save time, keep effects, etc, open the Timeline.
File > Relink Project Files.

Still takes up time, but at least you don't have to worry about all of the trimming and effects and crap.

I also noticed a major issue with Motion/FCP X tonight that I'm posting about, which I suspect could be related.

Actually relinking project files was one of the first things I did. That brought the event browser clips from being red and their respective used clip ranges. That's as far as I can get though. It's just plain weird and frustrating. I'll get back to it one day, I had to move on to new projects.

As always though, thank you very much for your input Ben.

I wanted to be sure, as relinking event and project files are slightly different processes. And I'd open the CC from the project timeline, into it's own timeline (not touching the browser), and relinking. Just to see what happens. Very odd.

That's just it. The day I posted this I was able to get the compound clips to show in the event browser and they are fully functional in the timeline in every way. It's now just the rest of the regular clips in the timeline that are red missing....but...in the event browser with their ranged areas. When i am in list mode for the projects and try to relink projects to the event nothing happens. It says so many clips are found and a few missing that are right there in the event browser looking at me.

I'm just now suffering from the same issue. Even some of my clips in the timeline are Black. Like slug. I'd have to replace the take into the timeline - (lots of projects, LOTS of time)

There must be something I'm missing
