So this is my first official post on FCP.co, something I've found EXTREMELY useful in FCPX. When moving and deleting clips in the FCPX timeline effects anything connected to the top or bottom of the clip, it can be a real pain. (It took some time for me to get used to those 'clip connections'...) I know that the ~ key overrides connections and gives you freedom to edit without effecting anything attached in the timeline. But what if you just wanted to turn that override key on... almost like a caps lock where you can ignore clip connections without having to constantly hold down the ~ key as you edit? Well I found a way! If you hold down the ~ key, then hold down shift (while still holding the ~ key) then release the ~ key then shift, it stays on. I thought it was just a weird bug but it does it every time. When you want to turn it off just hit the ~ key again. It's changed the way I edit in FCPX. I hope everyone finds this useful, I sure do!

Yes, that is a nice find. Also know that when you are moving connected clips, the Shift key restrains to only up/down motions, allowing you to reorder the stacking of them easily.
